Sleep, light meal: Being well rested will help greatly. Eat a light meal before the activity - an empty stomach will make it worse.  Reduce stress - prepare in advance, make sure you schedule plenty of time and arrive early. Prognosis-good: motion sickness lessens as you get used to the activity. If all else fails, verapamil is a non-sedating prescription medication some find helpful for preventing motion sickness.

Motion Sickness: Acupressure, acupuncture ; sea-bands can be used for motion sickness.  Ginger ; peppermint tea are also natural approaches to motion sickness.  Dramamine can be taken orally or scopolamine can be used as a patch. Zofran ; Phenergan (promethazine) as sometimes prescribed for the nausea that can occur with motion sickness.

Yes: Scopolamine patches are fairly effective, but work best if applied the night before travel.  All drugs in this class share side effects of dry mouth, constipation, and sedation.  They may also potentiate the effects of alcohol or other sedating drugs.  Check with your doctor for interactions with any other medications you are taking or other underlying medical conditions.

Motion sickness meds: The kinds of medications that are helpful in the managment of motion intolerance are the antihistamines (meclizine, antivert, bonine, dramamine), promethazine, benzodiazepines (valium, lorazepam, clonazepam, alprazolamz) and/or scopolomine. Most common side effect of these medications is drowsiness.  Care must be taken with continuous use or high doses of benzodiazepines.

Not really: All meds for motion sickness do, including bonine / meclizine.  If you know ahead of time, ask your pmd for scopolamine patch, this helps some people and does not cause significant drowsiness, but is rx only.  Also try ginger.  Fresh ginger (chewed, don't have to swallow pulp!) or extract helps many people.

Motion sickness: There are medications available however they would need to be prescribed by a pediatrician.  It is worth noting, however, the american academy of pediatrics suggests trying to deal with motion sickness in children by focusing youngsters' attention away from their queasiness. Listen to the radio or tapes, watch movies, sing or talk. Also, direct their attention at things outside the car, not at books or games, and make sure they look out the front windowwhere there appears to be less motion.

Ginger: This is not an official medical recommendation because it hasn't been scientifically proven but one common folk remedy is to consume very small quantities of ginger - either extract or the raw root. It settles the stomach. You may still feel dizzy though.
