Change diet/exercise: Decrease intake of fats, salt and sugar during this time and increase intake of complex carbohydrates.  Six small meals rather than 3 larger meals will keep your blood sugar level more consistent.

Calcium 1200mg/d and magnesium each day may improve mood and decrease swelling.

Avoid caffeine and alcohol.

Aerobic exercise 30min/d.

Birth control: My first concern would be that of the "right birth control  pill". Check with your doctor and ask if there is another bcp that may be more helpful since the currrent one is not working as you expected. It might take a few weeks to get used to it.However, still talk about other options and breast pain and moodiness. Also, a mood stabilizer might be helpful such as an antidepressant.

Sure: Birth control is very good at helping with PMS symptoms but does not help everyone. Extended cycle or continuous birth control pills are better than others.

Possible: But pregnancy symptoms aren't usually present until you actually miss your period. Take a home pregnancy test if you miss your period. Take care.

Consider OCP:  Consult with your physician. Sometimes young ladies are prescribed oral contraceptives to help regulate menstrual symptoms.

: Conception occurs within day or so of the sex. It takes about 3 weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG for a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully.

No: Ask your dr about Gabapentin or a low dose antidepressant. You can also try magnesium oxide 250 mg taken on an empty stomach at bedtime. This is an over the counter medicine.

No: The active ingredient in that vitamin is "dong quai". It will not interfere with nexplanon.

Exercise &amp; nutrition: PMS symptoms can be lessened by exercise during that time frame and avoidance of caffeine and theobromine (chocolates).  Minimizing sodium intake can also decrease bloating.
