You know: Unfortunate preventable tragedy by substance abuse, if you  do drugs don't do it leave it now and get help. If don't stay away from drugs, and help others from this tragedy.

Type 1 or type 2?: Hi. Type 2 in a parent greatly increases the chances of an offspring having type 2; not so for type 1. Therefore, if his Mom was type 2, yes, hex's at risk. He should (you all should) eat healthily and exercise regularly for life. Diabetes is easy to test for. 4 ways to test for diabetes: fasting glucose, random glucose, glucose tolerance test, and A1c (all have their own diagnostic criteria).

For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

Depends: You  md  may  want to  do   some testing  before  surgery.  You may  also  consider  seeing a genetics counselor  who  may  help  you  understand  what your specific risks  are.   Laparascopic  removal of  ovaries  is  another  alternative to   hysterectomy.

I always look at: these studies with a critical eye! One study one year one conclusion another study another year an opposite conclusion!  ANYTHING in EXCESS is generally NOT GOOD for you and we are talking about a POSSIBLE link between HEAVY DAILY EXPOSURE to cell phones and a SMALL increase in Cancer rates! TRY to use your phone in MODERATION!
BTW there is no "genetic" risk in individuals with FH of Glioblastoma!

i'm 18 and my mom died of hypothyroidism complications when she was 40 (she didn't get it treated) what do you think my chance of developing hypth is?

Chance is high: Thyroid disease typically runs along the female side of the family.  Your mother most likely had autoimmune thyroid disease (hashimoto's) causing her low thyroid.  I personally have never seen anyone die of complications from hypothyroidism.  As long as you are monitored for it, you should do fine with treatment.

Glioblastoma: I recommend that you not worry, just be vigilant of any changes in symptoms and always let your Drs know about your family hx.  There is nothing you can do to prevent this form of brain cancer anyway.  Just live a healthy lifestyle and have your regular check ups.  Hope this gives you comfort
