Complement: Typically not. Complement is activated and responsive to bacteria, fungi and some immune complexes. Viruses do not typically have any affect on complement levels other than an acute phase reactant that can boost levels. Chronic hep c infections have been shown to suppress total complement and C4 levels, but that is prior to treatment.

No.: Depite classic features of sle, your serologies suggest it. Low platelets or thrombocytopenia is a major feature of sle.  But a parvo b19 infection would not cause the abnormal tests you have.I would place you on hydroxychloroquine, nonethless, to see if your tests improve.

If you plan to be away awhile, and are  traveling abroad, it is wise to take traveller's insurance in case there's any delays, orreturn back to the us due to unforeseen reasons ; your health needs will be covered.In the us, you can always call ur pcp before leaving town, and ask who you can call in the city you're going to be at. If it's a foreign country, use the conceirge services.

Sickness: Please describe the symptoms of sickness. It will help to figure out if it is an infection. Consult a physician if the symptoms persist.

if my kids gave rsv virus to their grandfather can they catch it back from him? hes had symptoms for a week and both the kids appear to be ok now. they are suppose to go to his house today but i dont want them to get the virus back.

No: RSV is one of many "cold" viruses that accounts for a majority of URI's in season. Once a kid develops that infection &amp; their body heals, they are immune for at least that season though the immunity will eventually fade. You don't pass RSV back &amp; forth like a strep throat. They could get another "cold" this season but from a different virus.

Oocytes: Thank you for this question.  The mature oocyte has a thick covering called the zona pellucida that has to be traversed to reach it.  It is therefore unlikely that this would occur unless carried by the sperm which can bind to and then traverse the zona peelucida.
