how do you tell the difference between black mold and mildew?

Color: Mildew is a filmy, whitish or light green residue that is forms of mold hyphae of various types of mold. Black mold, and I am referring to stachbotrys, is potentially toxic and is black or dark green in color.  It grows in areas where there is standing water, often on horizontal surfaces, such as from leaking pipes. Mildew often collects on vertical surfaces in high humidity such as in bathrooms.

Mold: Most healthy patients will not experience symptoms when encountering mold/mildew.  Patients who have pre-existing health issues or weak immune systems are more prone to fungal infections and may present with fever, rash, shortness of breath and weakness.

Yes.: There are companies that can test (and treat, if necessary) your house.  Ask for and check references.  Look for specialists who are affiliated with professional organizations.

Mgt: Please contact occupational safety for the building. There are ways to inspect and clean the area where you work. In the meantime, avoid mold if possible.

It can: Depending on how large the area of the body being treated, it is possible that the immune system could be affected and contribute to a higher susceptibility to viruses, fungus and bacteria. They may also be the case if the radiation treatment causes breakdown or sores of the mouth or GI tract which would break down the body's defenses to these organisms.

i'm a new cleaner and yest. i cleaned a home with lots of black mold and mildew. i (being v ignorant) scrubbed and cleaned a bunch of mold on walls, tubs with no face mask. today i found out i'm pregnant. i am so worried. will/can this hurt the baby?

Discuss rinsing nasal passages with nasal saline. The pregnancy is unlikely to be affected by this one time exposure. Avoid contact with smoke and chemicals, and please see your OB.

Mold: It is mold as result of excess moisture condensing on your windows. You may need a dehumidifierto resduce the moisture in your house. You will need to use a mold inhibitor like bleach to get rid of the mold. If the job is too big get professional help.
