Could be blood?: Dark red in your bowel movements could represent blood.  If this has persisted, you should visit your doctor locally for a plan of action.

Blood not normal: Bloody stools are not normal and should be evaluated by your doctor.  Bright green poop may be caused by infection, excessive bilirubin, diet, or dyes in food.  My son worried me when he had the most beautiful sea-foam green poop as a baby.  We found out it was from his cousin's popcorn in the school colors-- blue and yellow.  Regardless, you should see your doctor for an evaluation of the blood.

Not certain: sometimes black stool is a sign of internal bleeding. It is difficult to tell whether this is the case just by your description. The stool should be evaluated to see if there is blood present. You need to be seen ASAP for this evaluation. Good luck

Could be : Could be constipation. Inrease fiber in your diet, try to have bowel movement on a regular basis, once daily or every other day.  If still constipated with high- fibe diet you can try miralax (polyethylene glycol).  See your doctor for a complete evaluation and treatment of this problem.

Yikes!: Are the thin red worm-looking things moving? You are bleeding from your colon. This could be an infection, or the beginnings of inflammatory bowel disease. Get care *immediately.* You need comprehensive lab work (CBC-d, autoimmune &amp; coag panel, LFTs, stool culture &amp; microscopy), preliminary imaging &amp; most likely a colonoscopy.  Practice thorough hand washing &amp; check for similar symptoms in family.

Black pigment: Black pigment in stool can be due to blood from high in the digestive tract(stomach and duodenum) or medications like peptobismol or iron containing supplements. Light brown stool is usually associated with loose movements. Your physician can do an examination of a stool sample in the office and test it easily for hidden blood.

Probably IBS: Most likely you have irritable bowel. This is usually caused by not having enough dietary fiber. Other causes of diarrhea are lactose intolerance, infection and ibd. You should see your physician. In the meantime, try metamucil or an equivalent product.

Constipation: Lots of liquids, vegetables, fruits and cereals---if doesn't work see your doctor.
