Depends: It is normal to miss a period if you are just beginning your cycles (first 3-5 years), if you are entering menopause, if you are manipulating your cycles with hormones (eg birth control pills) or if you are pregnant.  On the other hand it can be a sign of trouble.  If you can't explain your lack of periods, it is best to make a trip to your physician.
