Miralax (polyethylene glycol): Miralax (also called polyethylene glycol 3350) is frequently given to infants. It is non-absorbable and helps soften stools by increasing water content. Dosing is adjusted every few days until 1 soft stool per day is occurring. A typical starting dose would be 8.5 grams (1/2 capful) daily.

I recommend 2.5-5 ml: but this depends a little on the size of your baby.  Preschool children easily tolerate 1 cap full, which is 17 grams (about a tablespoon or 15ml).  If dose is not effective in 8-12 hours, a repeat dose may be given until stool is soft.  Too large a dose will cause diarrhea and can potentially cause dehydration, so be sure to offer fluids.

Diet modification: Try to increase the amount of ruins and vegetables in her diet rather than getting her started on laxatives. A good way too is to cut down on the dairy products for awhile.

Laxatives: If there has been a recent change in your bowel pattern and you haven't had a colonoscopy for several years, it is recommended to have one. Most \MD's don't approve of a laxative habit. Have you tried increasing your water and daily fiber intake? The objective is to avoid your body's dependence on stimulant laxatives. Consider eating prunes, pears,apples,wheat bran.

Is dose-dependent...: The more MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) you take the faster it works. As a once over-the-counter dosed laxative you may not see results for 3-4 days, but as a multi-dosed colonoscopy preparation (when used under doctor's advice) expect laxation within hours. As with any laxative however understand its mechanism of action, its risks, &amp; treatment goals &amp; make sure you are not missing obstruction, dysmotility, inflammation

i took miralax once in 17 grams (recommended dosage), and stopped 6 days ago, and still have flatulence and bloated stomach and very painful stomach until now which is the 6th day, as well as weight gain. is that normal? how can i stop those symptoms?

: Those symptoms may not be the side effects of a single miralax dose 6 days ago, especially the weight gain. I suggest light diet and take 10 cc of mylanta or any antacid + simethicone before each meal and at bedtime at the same time for a couple days.

Constipation : Is your little one drinking formula or breast milk?  Infants fed breast milk sometimes go many days without a bowel movement.   If stools are not firm and there is no significant straining, it is usually safe to watch &amp; wait up to one week.  I am not aware of recommended dosage guidelines for Miralax (polyethylene glycol) in a young infant.  Other options: prune or pear juice, mineral oil or glycerin suppositories.

my granddaughter is 6 mts old with in utero stroke and wts 5.2 kg. constipation is an issue. she is breast fed. no bm x4 days. dosage for miralax (polyethylene glycol)?

Constipation: If your daughter is breastfed she can have a stool with each feeding, go once a day or go aslong as a week without having one. All this is normal and not considered constipation and as such MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) is not needed.
