Worth trying: Ginger -either as a tea, freshly crushed up with honey, or even as a strong 'candy' you get in the Asian stores may help with nausea. There are a number of scientific papers in the literature touting it's benefits there - from pregnancy induced nausea, nausea from chemotherapy, sea-sickness, and even more problematic diseases. Everyone's a little different, but it couldn't hurt to try. Feel better

i am 29 years old. feel very healthy. normal weight for my body. had ultrasound done on liver for elevated enzymes. just had mono and norovirus a few weeks ago. they found 3 small spots on my liver no bigger than 1 cm. thoughts? common causes?

Need much more info: You need to find out from your doctor what they mean when they say "spots".  Were these seen on ultrasound or with CT scan,other imaging?  Are they cystic or do they look like solid tissue abnormality.  It's way to hard to make any guesses not even knowing how these were imaged.  You had mono recently and this virus can affect the liver, so it may be nothing more than left over inflammation....

using public toilet, cleaned poop marks from previous person with toilet brush. water splashed up (small amount) and hit my eye lid, and cheek. i quickly wiped them both. using my sleeve only. am i at risk of norovirus or e-coli? emetophobic here.

Everybody worries: Everybody worries after a trip to a public bathroom. Of course, we cannot live our lives inundated with bathroom fears. It depends on what others might be doing in the bathroom, what a person touches in the bathroom, whether or not there are specific outbreaks in the area, what a person did or "did not wash" after using the bathroom, etc...  In general, there's a little worry, but not a lot.

: The average incubation period for norovirus-associated gastroenteritis is 12 to 48 hours, with a median period of approximately 33 hours. Mask would not prevent norovirus as it is not airborne. It is spread through contact with the virus. You need to wash your hands with soap and water to avoid contacting the virus.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) : Norovirus represent about 90% of the intestinal viruses which cause human disease.  It causes severe intestinal distress with fever, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea being common.  Patients report body aches which relate to the body's response to the virus. All we can offer is relief of any fever or pain using tylenol, (acetaminophen) which is preferrable to Ibuprofen or other NSAID which can irritate the GI tract.

Norovirus: Norovirus doesn't get deactivated.  You wait it out. There is no specific treatment or medication for Norovirus. Hydrate well with non-caffeinated fluids. If one is becoming dehydrated consider use of electrolyte fluids. Stay home until symptom-free for at least 48 hours.

If he does:: With norovirus you go from feeling fine to suddenly feeling horrible with watery diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, stomach pain , fever, headache and body aches. Symptoms tend to last from 3-7 days. It is very important to stay hydrated, drink clear liquids, sips if necessary, to keep up with stool losses. Try not to eat anything but bananas, apples, constipating foods after the first day on clears.
