Picture says a lot: I would need to compare the 2013 and 2015 images to answer better.  But there is a threshold at which point a valve is considered thickened and in the past 2 years its possible the valve thickness passed the threshold from normal to thickened.   The cause of valve thickening is multifactorial- genetics, cholesterol, inflammation, hypertension, diet, lipoprotein a levels, lack of plant foods etc

i had an echocardiogram today and just received my results back. i am very concerned and wondering how worried i should be. findings include: low normal left ventricular ejection fraction (est. 50%), and aortic valve trileaflet with mild thickening?

Accepted Answer

: "thickened aortic leaflets" can lead to aortic stenosis, which will cause decrease in left ventricular function and the ejection faction will be lower than "50%".  Get a referral to a cardiovascular surgeon for an evaluation prior to potential onset of cardiac failure.

last 2 echo results say aortic valve: the aortic valve leaflets are mildly thickened. mild aortic leaflet calcification is visualized. there is no evidence of aortic stenosis. there is no evidence of aortic regurgitation. should i be worried ?

Accepted Answer

: How far apart in time were the tests done? If the valve is not increasing in thickness or calcification over time, it is less worrisome, given there is no evidence of stenosis or regurgitation. It likely will be monitored by your cardiologist so continue to follow up with cardiology and repeat the echo as recommended. Good luck to you!

i had an echo gram because i have been dizzy when walking. my family has heart issues, so i decided to check my heart. echo showed mild stiffness, mild leaky aortic valve & thickening of leaflets. bp 133/88. what does this mean? life exp shorter?

Echocardiogram: Its really best to discuss the findings with the physician who ordered the test to explain the findings in the context of your symptoms.  Otherwise, you should discuss them with a cardiologist who has expertise in echocardiograms.  Unfortunately, its not adequate for anyone to attempt to provide clarity to your test using this question and answer format.  Hope that helps!

my 75 yr old dads echocardiogram says mild lvh with some aortic valve thickening and calcifications and some pulmonic regurgitation .remarkable study otherwise. would this show if my dad had severe coronary artery disease?

Unremarkable: Most of the studies will cite unremarkable at the end. Echocardiogram is a suboptimal test for detection of coronary artery disease and it only implies it when significant wall motion abnormalities are noted in the presence of known coronary artery disease and previous heart attacks. It cannot rule out coronary artery disease otherwise.

my daughter has a mild aortic valve leakage shes 4 is this something i should be worried about?

Probably not: Mild aortic insufficiency (leakage) is not uncommon and usually does not progress to a problematic stage.  Her doctors should be informed of this and they may recommend periodic echocardiogram a to insure it does not get worse.

Aortic valve: We have no specific steps other than good medical care. If hypertensive it needs treatment, anti atherosclerotic therapy is also appropriate.

What other: Tests or if you need a second opinion depend on what your symptoms are and what the docs are looking for. I can see you have had a previous MI and have stents and it sounds like your heart pumps normally but I don't know your question or current problem. I don't even know your meds. Sorry
