Accepted Answer

No: To have a concussion you have to have an impact.  Unless you are having violent head tics against a hard surface.

in 2016 i had a fall, with injuries mainly on the right side of my body. i had a mild concussion even though i didnt hit my head.
since then local anaesthetic doesnt work on the right side of my body nor have my right side injuries healed.
why?

Top down thinking: After a concussion you can develop long term neurologic problems that are difficult to resolve because the nerves can be ‘stunned’ (in laymen’s terms). There is a way to help your nerves recover: get plenty of sleep, eat a healthy low sugar diet with a lot of fruits and vegetables, get daily exercise at whatever capacity you are at. Accepted Answer

Yes and no: He needs to rest and recover.  Then he needs to return to normal activities but be cautious.  Repeated concussion can be very serious.  However, over protection is also not good.  He must learn good safe exercise and caution.  He must be a normal boy and not be restrained.  However, he must be smart and protect his brain.

Concussion class: There shouldn't be any classification for mild moderate severe concussion.  That is old thinking.  Every concussion is as serious as the other.  Some people recover faster than others .

Accepted Answer

: Will be repetitive.  By definition, a cerebral concussion is a closed head injury causing loss of consciousness, amnesia, or both.  If you did not experience these events, you did NOT have a concussion.

Comments: Closed head injuries, without true concussion are very common events in life.  If you have headaches, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, imbalance, blurring or doubling of vision, contact your doctor.

can concussions occur regardless of what side of the head you are hit? if so can a concussion occur even if the force of the blow is below 50g?

Yes: Concussion is determined by clinical symptoms associated with a head injury.  This can be an injury that you do not hit your head, for example whiplash injury.  Some people are more prone to problem.

would the weight of a laptop falling over on it's side be enough to give someone a concussion? can't tell if i had one or if i am just overly anxious.

Accepted Answer

Possibly : A concussion typically causes feeling dazed, headaches, impaired balance and slowed thinking. The weight of an object is not the only variable. It depends on whether it just impacted your head/skull, or if it actually "jolted" your brain to the point of experiencing brain symptoms . Monitor to see if you have the above symptoms. If yes, then avoid mental and physical strain and seek medical care.

Accepted Answer

Symptoms: Return to play is based on return to play guidelines.  Typically if asymptomatic and if light aerobic activity does not illicit symptoms return to play is OK. https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/basics/return_to_sports.html.  A bump on the head in itself does not effect this decision. Sometimes swelling can be associated with a depressed skull fracture. That would make a difference.
