can i go to work if i have bronchitis? got a chest x ray & the doctor said looks good no sign of pneumonia. in report it says mild thickening of the bronchial walls, most notably within the right hilar region and lung bases seen on lateral radigraph?

: Unless you are coughing excessively it would be okay to return to work if you feel up to it. If you have fever, then it would not be proper to return to work.

: Besides viral infection, there are many endemic bacterial, fungal or parasitic lung diseases which can cause the described symptoms and those CT findings. You should see a pulmonologist (specialist for lung diseases).

In this condition the muscle bands around the airways are sensitive to change in temp and humidity and cause bronchospasm

how advanced does lung/bronchial cancer have to be for it to be untreatable?

Stage-4/refractory: Lung cancer is a bad cancer, yet it is treatable even when it is advanced to stage -4. But most such patient live only 12-18 months after which it is rarely treatable because we run out of treatment options like chemotherapy after 2 or 3 tries with different drugs. Experimental treatments may still be an option but you have to go to major cancer center for that exercise.
