Exam: You must be examined to determine what type of migraine you have and what the appropriate therapy will be. If not allergic to aspirin or caffeine: I would suggest Excedrin Migraine until seen, examined, evaluated and diagnosed.

Nothing permanent: However, there are many medications that work very well for both preventing headache and for treating acute headache. You should see someone familiar with migraine who can get you started on the road to diminishing both the frequency and intensity of our symptoms.

can nonspecific white matter changes for a healthy looking 35 yo male that doesn't manifest neurological symptoms (and without migraine) possibly be an early sign of demyelinating disease?

Accepted Answer

: The answer is cautiously yes but bear in mind that there needs to be clinical correlation.  Those changes are nonsignificant if the patient has no correlating symptoms.  Other potential causes for those findings could include hypertension and arrhythmia such as atrial fibrillation and these should be evaluated for as well.

Referral reason: It sounds like your provider just wanted some help- so they asked someone to take a look at you and review your MRI films.

Sounds like this is a precaution.  Doubt that MS will be diagnosed here.

Beat blockade: Drugs with beta blockade effect (inderal, atenolol, etc) can be useful for pat as well as migraines and heart issues.

i developed drug induced parkinsonism after 28 months of taking flunarizine for migraine. it has been 12 months since i stopped taking flunarizine yet the parkinsonism remains. should i be worried about developing actual parkinson's disease?

: I would expect the parkinsonian side effects to resolve after the causative medication is out of your system and true Parkinson's disease would not follow.  If you still have concerns, consult a neurologist for evaluation and advice.

increase in ocular migraine, whoosing sound in ear, now woke with vertigo. do these point to a certain disease? seeing a neuro in 2 wks.

Whooshing like pulse: ...Is more worrisome than steady whooshing. In combination with migraine and vertigo it points to a blood vessel problem near the inner ear. I would suggest a sooner appointment with your gp.

Difficult: Phobic vertigo is a triggered response to anxiety that causes symptoms but no loss of function, meniere's disease includes an actual loss of hearing acuity which is measurable, including other signs and symptoms. Migraines are diagnosed clinically. Making a definitive diagnosis would be difficult since much if the diagnosis of all of these is subjective

See your PCP: for examination and tests to rule out temporal arteritis. Initially the temple pain may be the only presenting symptom with the temporal and occipital regions being the most common locations. Tender spots or nodules may be present in the scalp, especially over inflamed arteries. See your PCP for evaluation, tests and diagnosis.

: Gather you seek the significance of the newest MRI, which appears nonspecific.  The migraine white matter lesions are usually posterior, but if you are a smoker, these types of lesions can also be present.  If neither is consistent with your history, then might consider Multiple Sclerosis, if your symptoms are consistent.  Find a neurologist to thoroughly discuss this, and whether spinal tap?
