i have migraine (prone to migraines), neck is very stiff and sore and have a metallic taste in mouth.  what could be the cause of this?

MD and DDS: I suggest you consult with a physician regarding the migraines and stiff neck.  Regarding the metallic taste, some medications can cause this.  You should also see a dentist as there may be some dental issues as well.

Common: The best answer is to catch the migraine before it is full blown and abort it. When you have the first sign that you are going to get a migraine, take whatever medication your doctor has prescribed, or if nothing is prescribed and you can tolerate it, try 3 excedrine or 3 Aleve (naproxen) tablets. If you can, lay down in a dark quiet room. The sooner you catch it, the less likely you are to get the vomiting.

Yes: It usually takes at least 3 months for a body to adapt to a contraceptive pill. If you are still experiencing these symptoms after three months, return to your gynecologist for follow-up.

Chronic migraine: Scalp soreness, in someone with a history of migraines, is called cutaneous allodynia; it is positive proof of *chronicity* of migraines. Although it does indicate your migraines are undertreated, it is not a red flag or a bad sign.

See your GP: The "worst" headache is a red flag and  warrant imaging (MRI) and further workup to rule out secondary headache, See your GP for evaluation.

May be sensitive,,,: You might be very sensitive to the medication and it might be having a profound effect on your migraine.  This could also be from the migraine itself and/or its resolution due to your medication.
