i have candidas glabrata in vagina- already seeing a dr, waiting for medications to arrive. i also have bv now, and 2 weeks metronidazole didnt help. i have resistant yeast, resistant to all azole treatments. is this why metronidazole didnt work?

: Yes, this probably is why treatment  hasn't been effective. C. glabrata is often resistant to all "azole" drugs. Alternate drugs likely to be effective include nystatin and the group of anti-fungal antibiotics called echinocandins, such as micofungin, caspofungin, and others. See Doctor: If you have being taking Metronidazole as prescribed and still not feeling better, you need to see your for re-evaluation.  Typically Metronidazole will treat a bacterial infection and you will need an anti-fungal to address the yeast infection. You may need test to identify the offending bacteria before selecting appropriate antibiotic. So please see your doctor for re-evaluation and care.
