One is longer acting: The metoprolol you are taking, metoprolol succinate is longer acting and is considered an extended-release version.  Often only once a day dosing is required, so you may have not needed it twice a day.  The metoprolol tartrate definitely requires at least twice a day dosing.  But your doctor and pharmacist can recommend the proper adjustments and the results for you will be equivalent. Good wishes

Yes you can: During the 24 hours of transition, you will go through a 12 hour period in which you effectively took 200 mg which is a standard dose for some people,  but you may feel more fatigued that day.

: Contact your doctor and have this re-evaluated.  This may be a simple issue of increasing your dosage, but important to cover the bases thoroughly.  Hope this can be managed successfully.

i am taking metoprolol succinate er 25mg once a day for my high bp from 1 month.. but now my bp is 120/80. can i reduce dose to 12.5 mg?

No not yet : the fact that your BP is now 120/80 (normal is 130/80 or less) is because the medicine is working. Depending on your co-morbidities and age, you may be best served staying on it. 25 mg is a very very small dose, by the way. Having said that, if u want to get off of it, make a sincere effort to limit ur dietary salt intake to 2000 mg or less/day, and exercise atleast 300 min/ week.
