: Methanamine hippurate is to reduce chances of reoccurence of UTI rather than to treat active UTI. You may be on vitamin C to increase acidity but that would be in the urinary bladder and that should not affect your esophagus. Your doctor already knew about  your other health problems and gave you the script. There is no worry taking it as prescribed by your doctor.

what is the definition or description of: hiprex allergy?

Accepted Answer

Very rare: Hiprex is an old drug used for urinary infections only.  Allergy with hives, itching, tight throat and even trouble breathing is very rare.  Reaction to the drug such as nausea when taken on empty stomach and occas soft stool or diarrhea is not allergy. Hiprex is an antibiotic that can be used for Longterm chronic infections of urinary tract.  One of our safer, relatively inexpensive meds.

Avoidance: Since there is a genetic risk, avoidance of exposure may be helpful. If your children have eczema, discuss an allergy referral with your pediatrician. Immunotherapy may be indicated depending on symptoms.

Depends: Several factors here.  I usually never recommend it if the family is attached to the pet, but if it is causing severe symptoms, you should sequester the animal out of the bedrooms and living spaces.  Then make sure you thoroughly rid those areas of cat dander as it is a potent and tenacious allergen.

Sometimes: But not all the time. Nasal allergies are not a frequent cause of a really bad persistent cough. In a child with allergies and a really bad cough (assuming no fever) I would be concerned about a reactive airway/asthma type condition. If the child also had eczema I would be even more concerned.

No: The condition of being allergic is certainly an inherited property.  Often, that tendancy is greater in children whose biological mother has allergies.  However, specific allergy is generally not thought to be inherited.  That is, a parent can be allergic to food, and their children allergic to pollen or insect stings.

??no numbers??: The only way for me to comment on the dose is if you list what you gave. Two 12.5 mg tabs in a 42 lb kid might make him groggy but shouldn't hurt in the long run.Four tabs would put him to sleep and he'd be out for a few hours. Luckily the med clears the body in 4-8 hours.

i am having anxiety over food allergies. i am 23 and have 3 children with no food allergies. i am having anxiety over peanuts. is it possible or is it just anxiety? ive never had a problem with peanut butter. my kids eat it a lot?

Health Anxiety: Peanut allergies do not typically spontaneously arise in adults or older children, especially if the persons concerned have been eating it regularly without any issues. For Anxiety, try Journaling, Deep breathing exercises, and meditation/prayer to relax the anxious thoughts and soothe yourself.

Accepted Answer

Yes: But benadryl (diphenhydramine) might make a child dopey or drowsy or overactive. It would not be my choice. You neglect to detail the symptoms. Best approach can be determined by knowledge of the details.
