Pills in stools!: Finding different pills has been a  known fact especially the long acting ones.
See your doctor to change metformin to regular- need to take twice daily.If your symptoms continue metformin has to be discontinued.
There was a hilarious article in an integrated medicine journal about the huge amount of pills which was recovered from a mountain of stools!

m58, started glucophage (metformin) 500 mg and norvasc 10 mg per day. have not passed stool from 36 hrs. could this be due to these medicines. thanks?

No: No, in fact, a common side effect of glucophage (metformin) is diarrhea. Let me suggest that a simple solution is to eat at least 1 cup of a high fiber cereal (Raisin Bran, Fiber One, All Bran) every day. Try to drink plenty of liquids too (avoid dehydration).

Not uncoomon: Janumet is a combination medication with januvia (sitagliptin) and metformin. Gi side effects are not uncommon with metformin especially at higher doses.

Not likely: Although the most common side effect of metformin is diarrhea, it is usually not bloody or dark.  Victoza (liraglutide) can cause nausea, occasional vomiting, but not ulcers or bleeding.  You should see your doctor if this continues.

Normal: The stool color is provided by the bile from the liver that is adds to fecal debris.It starts out a deep green & slowly changes thru greens to yellows to browns as the germs in the intestines metabolize the bile.Green generally means the stool in question moved through faster or was subject to less change by gut germs.
