Might be nerve irrit: There might be a nerve in the area growing or re-growing near the plate, getting irritated.  Sometimes nerve blocks can help this.  OTher times medication can be given that helps.

: I don't know that your question can be answered without a full and complete examination. Considering the damage that you describe to your skull, and your visual abnormalities, important that you be examined by Ophthalmologist and possibly Neurologist. do not delay

is it safe to have metal plate and screws inside of the body for a long amount of time?

Yes: When broken bones are fixed with plates, screws, rods or wire we usually plan on leaving the implants in for the life of the patient.  These metallic impacts have been shown to be safe when left long term and the risks of removing them are usually much higher that leaving them in place.

Metal plaat question: It is possible.  An xray of the painful area may narrow the search and an appointment with your orthopedic surgeon is advised to complete the evaluation.

Very low: The large majority of modern spinal instrumentation is made of titanium.  Allergy to titanium is exceedingly rare.

No limit: No limit on the plate for a human, as long as the bone is healed.
I take most plates out in patients under 50 at about a year post op.

See doctor: Could be an infection or scar tissue. See your doctor that put the plate in, or an ent.

Clavicle pain: Once the bone heals, it isn't usually painful. The prominence of the plate can be tender for a while. There may be some numbness along the scar.
