Avoid large fish: Fish consumption during pregnancy should be no more than twice a week. Avoid large fish such as shark, swordfish, large tuna, eel etc due to risk of mercury contamination. Consume small fish such as chunk light tuna, salmon, etc. If you have consumed eel sauce just a few times-do not worry.

Mercury intake: Why not just avoid food high in mercury (check fish below).Fish with very high potential mercury levels: shark, swordfish, marlin, king mackerel, big eye & ahi tuna, orange roughy & tilefish. Limit intake of yellow fin & white albacore tuna, spanish & gulf maceral, grouper,  bluefish & chilean sea bass. For healthier mercury levels try: crabs, crawdaddies, haddock, flounder, salmon & shrimp. Vvvv.

i'm 5 weeks pregnant and ate 3 servings of asian sea bass in the past 2 days. didn't know it was high in mercury. i'm very worried. should i be?

Mercury in tile fish: No worries. No problem with eating a few even with mercury but would check with your local OB as I don't know the Hg levels over there. I would be more worried about the mercury coming from coal burning sources there. And cement plants.

Buy fish oil that is: Pharmaceutical grade which means the processing has cleaned the mercury. Also while pregnant look at non fish sources of omega three fatty acids..Flax oil, borage, evening primrose. A good source is also a product made by lifemax called mila. Check it out.

Low level of mercury: Tilapia is considered to have a low level of mercury.

Depends on the fish: Certain fish have higher mercury concentrations than others and intake should be limited to twice a week. Other fish such as salmon can be eaten more often.

Please consult: With your dentist as I am sure your dentist can  explain what is in the filling and if u have a cavity or dental problem and it is left untreated it could cause infection and other problems which be serious.

Yes: The main concern is mercury and the larger fish which eat the smaller fish concentrate the mercury and are more risky. Fortunately, lobster doesn't eat very large fish.

pregnant. ate 1lb steamed gulf of mexico blue crab claws/thought shellfish was very low mercury/safe. now reading blue crab isnt low mercury. havent eaten seafood in 2 wks before this. worried about mercury.  is this harmful for baby?

: Prob not but it is not the single crab that does it.  discuss with your local team who know blue crab issues.  Go to uptodate.com and read more. May want to get blood or urine mercury test. Co to CDC.gov and search mercury poisoning toxicity.
