Serious/persisting: There are several disorders that have hallucinations as a symptom such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and various drug and alcohol intoxication disorders/states.  However hallucinations are also seen in severe states of depression as well.  I'm sure there are other disorders that have as rare symptoms, hallucinatory experiences, but the key to remember is that these symptoms are very serious.

Many factors: Unfortunately, we don't know exactly what causes any particular mental disorder, maybe with the exception of PTSD.  Some are genetically based, but they may not show up in all members of a family.  Equally frrequent are environmentally based causes such as chronic neglect or abuse, but these also don't always develop in everyone exposed.  It is an ongoing and longstanding question.

What do you mean?: What do you mean by "spiritual?" this is not a term that is often used by mental health or medical practitioners when discussing the various causes of mental disorders.  Usually we speak of "biopsychosocial" causes. But, to explain mental disorders we consider all aspects of a person, including one's religious or spiritual beliefs.  Certainly, what one believes affects one's mental health.

Many: Real psychosis?  As in having hallucinations or delusions?  Possibilities include schizophrenia, mania, drug abuse (especially stimulants), a variety of medical issues including brain tumor or trauma, metabolic abnormality, certain infections... the list is long.  If the person can be reasoned with, suggest that they see a doctor.  If not, you may need to call the police for your safety.

There are several.: Not sure what you mean by psychotic rage. If you mean unpredictable, explosive anger, then there could be a variety of reasons including head trauma, alcohol, drugs, psychiatric illnesses (e.g. Bipolar d/o, intermittent explosive d/o) or medical conditions including delirium. The persons should be evaluated ; treated asap to prevent injury to themselves or to others.
