Yes: There is no relationship between your cycle and a dry socket. Dry sockets can occur up to 3-5 days after a dental extraction. Hopefully not! Do not use straws and no smoking.

Age? Condition?: Health? Infected? All that matters and affects healing rate. At 18 and healthy, bounce back in a day or two. At 42, make it 2 weeks; at 60+, could be longer. Add time if you smoke (+ increased dry socket risk), if they are deeply or "backwards" impacted or if they are infected. Need lots more info to be specific.

Yes and Unlikely: While 7 months is a bit of a longer than usual time frame for a bony sequestrum to appear, it is certainly not unheard of. Local discomfort akin to splinter is what I'd expect for pain. Pain in surrounding teeth is likely due to something else.

Referred Pain: Sometimes pain is referred from upper to lower or vice versa. The nerves of the jaw and face have a common origin, the tri-geminal nerve and sometimes "loops" occur. 
Another thought is the muscle strain or doctor's grip on your jaw when taking the tooth out.

It varies widely!: Sometimes we see shifting in a matter of weeks or months, while other times it takes years. Every circumstance is different and we can't always predict what will happen nor when. Generally speaking, the sooner teeth are replaced the better. Your own dentist can probably give you a more accurate guess.

Don't brush 24 h: only gently rinse your mouth with warm salt water 3-4 X per day. After the 24 hours, start brushing your teeth, being particularly gentle near the surgical site to avoid disrupting any stitches or blood clot.
