can a melanoma be scrapped off with a fingernail? i am worried i may have scratched a melanoma and not a scab.

Very difficult: Melanoma is a malignant  tumor if the skin  , the Dx is often difficult , generally  done by biopsy ?, if you are afraid , you need to go to a dermatologist  ,  improbable you got it out with your fingernail  , finally as early the diagnosis the better prognosis.

Color: Not typical of melanoma, but like any other skin lesion having your doc take a look at it is always a good idea.

Let the Dermatologis: I think you have already engaged two dermatologists who agree that you do not have melanoma . I would trust them and keep an eye on your nail for any further growth or changes which might require a biopsy. The biopsy of the nail is cumbersome and only recommended if it is suspected melanoma, which will typically produce a vertical streak of black or brown pigment from base of the nail.

Can't diagnose: Dark lines in black people over age 20 is usually normal.  Black stripes down one nail could be a subungual hematoma.  Red or brown streaks could be splinter hemorrhages.  
However, Melanoma can sometimes present as dark stripes on a nail.
