Alternative/Compound: There are other comparable medications such as triluma. However, melacare cream is a combination of hydroquinone 2%, tretinoin 0.025%, ( 20gm) Mometasone Furoate  0.1% so you could have this compounded and made by a local pharmacist.

See a dermatologist: Sometimes prolonged use of hydroquinone will cause a paradoxical darkening. You should always stop it for a few weeks every few months. You must prevent sun or UV contact with your face to keep it pale. Is it really worth it??? Usually not.

Hydroquinone: is one of the three ingredients of Melacare and it alone is good for whitening, so you could just use it (4%) instead.  You will have to stay on it more or less continuously as the dark pigment returns when it is not being inhibited.  Also some concerns that it might cause cancer---not everyone believes this.  Tretinoin is also an ingredient of Melacare that can help whiten and you can stay on it.

OTC hydrocortisone: Clobezan [clobetasol] is 1000 times more potent. Result  from OTC hydrocortisone likely to be less effective, but worth a try. You can get prescription from Dr or urgent care. Trriamcinolone cream .1% is midway potency but far less expensive. Can get 15G, 80G tube or  16oz jar.

Hydrocortisone: Hi
The only thing we have over the counter here that is similar is low potency hydrocortisone. If Fucicort isn't working, I doubt hydrocortisone will. You might have to try getting a prescription for something else.

Lighten skin: Like most creams you could be allergic to these creams and they can darken the skin instead of lightening the skin if you don't do sun protection.

Not bad: The active ingredient in Nadinola Cream is Hydroquinone, a product used by physicians to lighten skin.  Nadinola has a 3% concentration, the bleaching cream that I carry has 4%.  Nadinola also has a sunscreen, which is important when using HQ.  You don't want to use it for more than 6 weeks at a time.  I usually recommend doing a 6wk course twice/year. Between you can use something like Lytera.
