Talk it over: Thanks for the information that you are on DepoProvera, which has been used "to control sexual aggression in persons with traumatic brain injury" (Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation:June 1995). Your lack of sex drive may well be due to this injection given as part of your overall  plan of therapy. Please discuss your concerns with your treatment team. Hope that helps!

?arterial dissection: Do you wish to know about a dissection of the carotid or vertebral arteries?  This is the consequence of a forceful impact or stretch causing the interior of the vessel wall to tear.  At the injury site, a blood clot could form and cause a secondary stroke downstream.  (i do not know the term dissecting brain injury, but do know about brain "dissection" in medical school courses).

Not necessarily.: May take up to 18-24 months for full brain healing, and often the outcomes allow normal functioning for the remainder of your life.  Injuries vary from person to person, and interval rehabilitation may enhance recovery.  Spend time with your doctor and design an approach to maximize your outcomes.

Protect head: If you use either hard hats or helmets during work that is hazardous or atheletic activity that creates head injuries this can prevent damage to brain, dont drink and drive, wear seat belts while drinving, if there is a problem with balancing use soft foam helmets at home.

Good question: The brain is very complex.  Brief disruption can happen, and full recovery can occur.  A transient ischemic event can happen.  Concussion can happen.  A seizure can happen.  A migraine can happen.  A psychotic break can happen.  All can recover fully or leave deficits.  A good neurologist can help determine cause and effect.

Neuro exam, MRI: While there are many tests for brain injury, MRI is the most sensitive test to show brain injury from a test perspective.
Neurological examination is the hallmark of patient evaluation.
Neuropsychometric testing will help determine functional abnormalities after brain trauma.
