I don't think so: I believe the treatment for trachoma which is an infection of the eye by chlamydia trachomatis is either Azithromycin or tetracycline  eye ointments.  I have not heard of zinc sulfate as a treatment.

Progresses slowly: Trachoma is the leading preventable cause of blindness across the world which is caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. Young children are particularly susceptible to trachoma. However the disease progresses slowly &amp; the more painful symptoms may not emerge until adulthood. No-Chlamydia is...: The bacteria causing infection is caused by chlamydia trachomatis, serovars a, b, ba, and c. It can cause an eye infection called chronic follicular conjunctivitis. It is primarily  spread by person-to-person transmission by ocular and respiratory secretions. However, it can also be spread by insect vectors like a housefly.

No: What expires on contacts is the sterility.  I would not recommend using expired contacts.

However trachoma is rare in the U.S. And is not an issue in this case.
