i was given reglan in er wed, april 12, via iv.  i spent the next 3 days climbing the walls with anxiety.  should i now list this med as an allergy?

Intolerance: Allergic reaction is mediated by an immune reaction. Yours is an intolerance which may be dose-related.  When asked, you probably should just tell people that you are allergic since most of them don't understand what intolerance of a drug is.

i'm allergic to metoclopramide, and i currently have some sever stomach pains. i took buscopan a few minutes ago and want to know if i'm at risk of any issues becuase of my allergy? the pain is just under my naval and has intensified over 2 hours.

Severe = see doctor: They are different medication types, but it's hard to guess allergies. Severe pain means see one's doctor or the ER. Pain can be from many things. Stomach acid problems cause pain, as do ulcers, pancreatitis, or gallstones. Appendicitis is always a concern (usually lower abdomen, worsens over time, with fever coming on). Gastrointestinal infections can cause pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever.

Possibly: Reglan (metoclopramide) has been used for nausea as well as to increase GI motility - it is effective, but has some potentially dangerous side effects.   Most physicians seldom use it long term.

With meals: Not sure what the question is asking but if you are taking this med for gastroparesis, you should take it 30 min before your big meals, so essentially, 3x/day.

Reconsider this drug: Metaclopramide (reglan) is a pro-motility agent to improve esophageal and stomach emptying.  However, please read the side effect profile of this medication--it may make you reconsider using it casually, especially if to be taken more than a few doses.  What is your indication for the drug?

are there dietary changes that can be made for gastroparesis instead of reglan (metoclopramide) or propulsid drug therapy?

Gastroparesis: Small portions, small meals, chew very well. Minimize meats. Minimize crust and chunky food.  Walk after eating. Drink a bit of fluid while eating.  Avoid constipation.  Eat lots of natural fiber.

bloodwork normal, upper endo normal.gi put me on reglan 5mg three times daily for a month to test for gastroparesis. no insurance, motility test too expensive. is this dose safe? how quickly will td set in if i am sensitive to this drug?

: Yes, it is safe, only 1/2 of the usual dose. If you respond to the medication you should see the improvement in the next 24-48 hours. However, if there is minimal or no improvement, dose should be doubled, 10 mg q 6-8 hours for a couple days before deciding the trial fails.

i went to the er last week for a migraine and was given reglan, whcih i had a bad reaction to. since then (it could be anxiety on and off), but i feel like my left leg and arm are restless and achey at times. could this be from the drug i had a week

Helps: Reglan (metoclopramide) helps the stomach empty faster, pushing the large volume of the typical liquid prep out faster, lessening the chance of you vomiting it up because it doesn't go through quick enough.
