Osmotic laxative: If you remember from science class putting sugar or other dry compound in small amount of water and placing it in lager container of tap water the tap water would cross the plastic bag and dilute the sugar water......Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is an osmotic laxative it prevents water from being absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract  thereby getting more water to the anus vice a dry poop.

In a clear liquid: Miralax (polyethylene glycol) can be mixed in any liquid, but if it is put in a clear liquid (even water), you will be able to make sure that it is completely dissolved.  It has no taste, so it is very well tolerated.  There is no particular time of the day that is preferable.  Just try to take it about the same time every day.

Miralax (polyethylene glycol): I suppose you could if you wanted to.  However, MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) has no real taste and from what I have heard, it has no real texture.  If you're trying to disguise the miralex, you might try putting in a liquid beverage you like.  If you put it on pancakes, you may never want to eat pancakes again.

Depends on reason: No universal answer to this.  Chronic constipation can have many causes such as side effect of meds, metabolic disease (eg. Diabetes, hypothyroidism), neurologic disease, low fiber diet, obstruction from colon polyps/colon cancer.  This is why over-the-counter laxatives should not be used long-term for symptoms of unknown reason; getting to the root of the problem is highly advisable.

Hours to days.: Miralax (polyethylene glycol) works by absorbing water from the colon allowing it to move easier through the bowel and pass the stool. It probably needs to be taken daily to be effective .  It is not like milk of magnesia or citrate of mnagnesia, which should only take few hours to be effective.

Several: I like MoviPrep as it is only 2 liters and very well tolerated by patients and with excellent visualization. Suprep and osmo prep are other alternatives. Ask you endoscopist for options he/she is comfortable with.
