Neurontin (gabapentin) : Neurontin (gabapentin) or lyrics which are nerve medications often work well for sciatica.  I would recommend seeing your primary care doctor for assessment and treatment.  If sciatica does not respond to medications it may improve with steroid injections or surgery.   I recommend you seeing my health guide on lumbar disk herniations and sciatica.  Good luck!

Have : Have you considered using medical acupuncture as an adjunct to your other forms of treatment?   Acupuncture; which has been practiced for several thousand years in china; is commonly used in many european countries as well. This may be a beneficial addition to the treatment that you are already receiving.

See a podiatrist: Your shoes may be causing bursitis or you may have a Morton's neuroma. A podiatrist can aid in the diagnosis and treatment.

You can: try to go up to 3600 mg slowly, under direction of a physician to see if you have additional symptom relief. 
Effective dose is 1800-2400 mg

i am 50 years old and am experiencing maintaining an erection.  could this be related to my pain medication? i am currently taking tramadol and gabapentin for low back pain and neuropathy.  i am also on pantoprozaole sp? for grd.

Possibly, : Possibly, but many other things can cause similar conditions, including diabetes, coronary artery disease, stress, etc.

does long term use of anti-seizure drug such as neurontin changes brain chemistry permanently in some way or another?? i have been on neurontin 100 mg for nerve pain and mild restless legs. i am worried about long term use effect on brain, is it safe?

: There is NO evidence that Neurontin or any other anti-epileptic drug has potential to permanently change "brain chemistry", but does modify neurotransmitter function while being used.  100 mg is extremely low dose, and may have suboptimal benefits to treat your conditions.

i was just prescribed celebrax for sciatic nerve pain and i'm allergic to sulfa drugs. problem?

Do not take Celebrex (celecoxib): If you have a sulfa allergy, do not take Celebrex (celecoxib)   perhaps consider Meloxicam (mobic) or Prilosec with naproxen.

will i get more pain relief from nerve pain if i use a combination of both drugs like elavil and lyrica, (pregabalin) than if i used just one ?

Most likely: Since they attack "nerve" pain by different mechanisms then there is a potential for additive benefit. They are often used in combination for that purpose.

Keep in mind that medications like this do not work right away, so if you can tolerate as they "get into your system" over the course of a few weeks you will be able to see if they truly work for you.
