More complex fractures may require 1) manipulative reduction ('setting of the fracture by manipulating it') and casting or 2) surgical reduction and fixation. Fixation may be performed by use of a) pins, ii) plates and screws, iii) rods, iv) external fixation.

Depends: This depends on a number of factors such as the type of fracture, whether surgery was done or not, and, possibly most importantly, the pain tolerance of the individual.  Essentially all painkillers are narcotics (other than tramadol), and most physicians will start with less potent painkillers and increase the potency as indicated.

: radial head may have healed in a non anatomic position resulting in impingement you need followup xrays and orthopedic evaluation. Sometimes these fractures require radial head resection and possible implant.
