Cows milk allergy: can have different manifestations.  Most common will be vomiting frequently after feedings and excessive fussiness. At times to the point of repeated vomiting followed by marked lethargy.   Some infants with true milk protein allergy will have blood in stools.  Infants rarely manifest  hives or swelling of lips and tongue, which would be more common of food allergy ingestion older children/adults.

See a Specialist: This is a complicated question that cannot be well answered in only 400 characters.  The problems with formula may be allergy or lactose intolerance or several other things.  You should have the baby tested for soy and milk allergy and you may need to try several formulas before you find one that is well tolerated.  Enfamil AR thickens in the stomach so it is less likely to reflux back up the esop

i recently switched my 3 month old supplementation formula from liquid (enfamil neuropro gentlease) to enfamil (gentlease enspire powder) but he keeps spitting out when he burps. how do i know if its a milk allergy or if he doesnt tolerate it?

:  A test for milk and soy allergy is available by lab testing/
If the liquid formula was better tolerated, then the powder form preparation may have altered the concentration. Frequent spit ups and burping are often a sign of GERD which is common at this age. Reflux precautions include thickening the formula and feeding at a 30-45 angle. Watch for signs of vomiting, green tinge and follow up w Peds

? allergies?: Hard to be sure. S26 appears to be a formula based on cow milk protein that has been broken up to where the babies body does not react to any of the proteins.If other solid foods have been added without problems it may be possible at a year to use a soy/almond or other such milk rather than formula as you expand the kids diet. Please coordinate this with his doc.

Similar: Most milks are standardized with minimal differences now. The milk companies have made great strides in improving their products but they agree that mothers' milk is best.  If you really want to investigate differences-you can read the websites for the companies online and they will tout their benefits.

Accepted Answer

Depends: Formula is not paperclips. There can be minor differences in the ingredients that babies gut may deal with differently.This can result in changes in digestive patterns, cramping,loose stools,constipation etc.while switching back and forth. That said, some kids won't notice any difference and will do well,(or poorly) on one or both. Best find one that works and stick with it.

Gerber: It is too early to add gerber's. Try giving more milk,  have your child such on a pacifier and give sterile water between feedings if necessary.

Depends: A temporary switch between formulas is probably ok, but it depends on why your child was on soy formula. If it was due to a milk allergy, then you need to know that gentlease is cow's milk based.

If : If your baby is having trouble tolerating a milk based formula, regardless of the brand, then you may want to consider switiching to a soy based formula and monitor for improvement.Soy based formulas are sold in any store that sells "regular" or milk based formula.  If this does not help, then your baby maybe dealing with a reflux issue, and would need to be evaluated by his or her doctor.
