meclizine hydrochloride is it good for tinnitus? i bought dramamine (dimenhydrinate) all day and it has 25 mg of that ingredient. how should i take this medication?

Not helpful: Meclizine and dramamine (dimenhydrinate) both can help dizziness, and the nausea and vomiting accompanying motion sickness, but in my experience has no effect on tinnitus.  Maybe see an ear specialist.

Possibly: Certain individuals report some dizziness and groggy after taking meclizine.  There are, however, many other causes of dizziness and grogginess, best to check with your physician.

i have pretty bad vertigo. drs have not been able to find the cause and physical therapies have not helped. the only thing that helps is meclizine and ive had to take it daily for years now. is there long term effects to this medication daily?

: Not many people are taking meclizine on a daily basis for years so I do not think we have reliable data for addressing your concern. At the same time, there are studies which showed meclizine has minimal beneficial effects in alleviating vertigo in the long run. Personally, I do think daily exercise to retrain your vestibular system does have a role to overcome vertigo in the long run. Good luck.

can i lay in the taning bed with the medications im on ? im on klonopin inderal and remeron vitamin d  and occasionally meclizine

: Medication should be managed by your Psychiatrist who knows your medical history. If you are not confident with your Psychiatrist please see another for a second opinion. It's a good idea to have a complete physical exam to know if you have a physical illness that is causing anxiety. Your anxiety could be helped by a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in multiple types of psychotherapy.

i've been talking norethindrone for regularity and i started coughing up mucus and blood. so i'm wondering if it's because i take meclizine and if there are any good medications to take for regularity at that time and would like to get back on my med?

Technically, yes: There are a couple of otc pills (dramamine (dimenhydrinate) less drowsy) that contain meclizine, the active ingredient in antivert.

Can make you drowsy: You need to be careful, somnolence is a very common side effect of Meclizine and if taken with Remeron (mirtazapine) or Klonopin  it could make it worse. You should be especially careful not to drive or operate heavy machinery while on these medications. Good luck.

Possibly: Any drug with anticholinergic activity can cause this problem .Though this is a mild drug, there is a possibility.

No: This should not cross-react with anything, especially when methods using two different chemical principles are required.

are there any harmful drug interactions between meclizine (antivert) and midol?

Accepted Answer

No, unless Midol PM: As usual, when taking multiple medications it is wise to keep track of any side-effects that you may experience.  Always let your primary doctor know of any over-the-counter medications you are on.

That being said, Meclizine and midol should be safe to use together.  

Make sure it is not midol pm though.  That can cause excessive sleepiness that may lead to unfortunate accidents.
