Both drugs: Are CNS depressants and as such therapy has to be closely monitored. Take only if so prescribed by your doc and monitor for side effects as instructed by your pharmacist.

: It is stated that zoplicone may increase the central nervous system depressant effects of amitriptyline. This would be of special concern in the older people. Side effects of dizziness &amp; drowsiness are listed with the combination and, thus, there would be concern for driving,operating machinery, etc the next morning.

i've taken 7.5mg zopiclone + 5mg valium & 2 x 30/500 cocodamol for sleep but it is ineffective. i've now had amitriptyline & tramadol. is this safe?

Not Safe!: It is never safe to combine these medications. Talk to your doctor about your insomnia. You need a careful evaluation in order to obtain an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Polypharmacy is never safe! We lose too many young people each year due to unintentional overdose. Be safe and work with your doctor.

have shingles and have pain in forehead and back of head.. i take one zopiclone and been prescribed amitriptyline.  is this ok, also taken 2 panadol?

Shingles: Zolpidem = ambien not a good medicine in my opinion it masks the underlying problem and is extremely addictive. Amitriptyline (Elavil) on the other hand is a neuropathic pain med that is FDA approved for shingles. Start at 10mg about 1 1/2 hrs before bed and increase dose slowly with your docs help until your pain is tolerable and you are sleeping thru the night. Many AE that improve w/ time GB

Be cautious : Zopliclone, amitriptyline and cocodamol would interact with each other, you want to reduce the dosage or eliminate the unnecessary, the gauifenesin is fine, good that you asked, always exercise caution with multiple medications

Individual consult: To find something best suited to you, you need an individual re-assessment with your own doctor.  There's no ssri as truly sedating as elavil (amitriptyline). In fact, this is partially why many ssri's are chosen over older antidepressants like Elavil (amitriptyline) anyway. People don't like to be drowsy in daytime.  If you and your doctor are looking for sedation, an alternative (not an ssri) might be mirtazepine.

Hair loss: Causes of hair loss include hormonal issues, local infection, trauma eg from hard hair brushes / hot air blow drying / dyes &amp; chemicals, severe illness (during and months after), poor diet, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, etc. On very rare occasions ordinary medications may  be involved, when used at high doses. OTC Biotin, Vitamin D &amp; E, Omega oils orally and Minoxidil lotion topically may help.

If prescribed, yes: This is a low-dose antidepressant medication which also has anti-pain properties.  It may  be given for other reasons as well -- such as to help with sleep.  If your physician has prescribed it after reviewing your health history, yes it is safe.
