The same as others: Always perform CPR in a patient until you know exactly what the injury is. Spinal cord injury in the thoracic and lumbar spine is compatible with life, and good CPR could save this patient. However, acute high cervical spine injury could render CPR "futile" depending on the exact injury. But unless you know exactly the injury, continue with CPR until someone with medical expertise takes over care.

Environmentally: Good question. Patients with spinal cord injury (particularly higher level, more complete injuries) are 'poikilothermic' meaning that their environment dictates their body temperature. Out in the heat, a person with quadriplegia may run fever. In the cold, hypothermia is a real concern. The best solution: get out of the elements. Dress appropriately, layer, and monitor body temp while outdoors.

Of course, depending on the injury level, some transfers may not be possible independently.

No: I am not sure what you mean but neck "pops" are not necessary.  I have never heard of a person having a spinal cord injury by just moving their head as is usually expected (pops or not).

Multiple modalities: Depends on level and complete verse incomplete. Passive stretching/range to start, pt, fluoidotherapy. Oral Baclofen or tizanidine can be beneficial. Can consider intrathecal Baclofen as well. Any ho? You can consider Botox injections to targeted muscles as well. Surgical release is a last ditch option. Make sure any pain or irritation is controlled as well as these can worsen spasticity.

The actual injury can be numerous mechanisms, from anything from trauma to infection to infarct, severing communication of some degree from your brain to the levels below the injury.

Sliding boards are initially used to make the transfers easier.

Ask physician: The level of injury is determined during physical examination.  There are some nuances to it but generally speaking the level is at the part of the body where muscle control and sensation is normal.  People with complete injuries have no muscle control or sensation below the injury.  People with incomplete injuries have function and sensation that are not normal below the level of injury.
