Examine yourself monthly. If it is growing seek out medical care.

Nothing good.: You likely need to have this biopsied, if you smoke or drink see an ENT doctor to make sure you do not have a cancer of the throat.

Maybe: If there's suspicion of lymphoma. Have you had anti-Ro / anti-La drawn (SSA/SSB)? Since Sjogren's isn't all that treatable, making a solid diagnosis may not be key -- or an insurance company may want it.

: The lay term "triangle of death" refers to an area of the face that has venous blood flow that leads into the brain. Infection that enters that venous blood can travel the route and infect the brain substance triggering a fatal infection. Such chance infections are rare with simple cosmetic manipulation of the facial skin. It would be a concern when manipulating local infected tissue.

I heard this as a first-year medical student and got all worried about my acne doing this, and got set straight by an annoyed house officer. Acne won't go to the deep structures, and if you have a cellulitis on your face, you're going to get treated anyway.
