Two issues here: Myopia of -2.5 at age 19 means that the myopia will never get very high for this person.  Floaters are common and when they are too numerous to count or associated with light flashes need to be evaluated .  Floaters cannot become malignant or cancerous.

Depends on age: There is some information that use of certain eyedrops during childhood may be able to slow progression of, but not cure, myopia. After age 21, with stable readings, one can consider laser refractive surgery (i.e. Lasik or prk) if the affected individual does not want to wear glasses or contact lenses to correct the myopia. Myopic eyes are at higher risk for glaucoma and retinal detachment.

Myopia Reversible: Myopia is correctable.  Glasses, contact lenses, refractive surgery.  But not reversible per say.  
Myopia is a basically an anatomic variation.   The goal of any eye is to focus light onto the retina.  In a myopic eye the eye is too long and the lens and cornea are too powerful.  So light is focused in front of the retina.  Lenses and surgery just change where the focal point is.

I wish we knew: Myopia is becoming more common.  Some relate it  to chronic indoor life instead of outdoor activities common in human ancestry.  There are many suggestive things to modify it including certain dilating drops, light changes and activity modifiers.  No true cure is known but good eyeglass and contact correction exists and LASIK is commonly performed.

Non-medical complications of myopia include getting into accidents, getting hit by balls, getting lost because one can't read signs well, not recognizing people from a distance, etc...
