Not yet: If your type 2 diabetes is being well controlled why try something else, particularly not fully covered by the Food and Drug Administration - to the best of my knowledge.

Stress: Excess stress can aggravate diabetes but not cause it. Other factors come into play, such as heredity, diet, activity level & lifestyle.

i am hypertensive and on tenoric 50. i understand its banned in uk because it may cause type 2 diabetes. should i stop taking tenoric?

Accepted Answer

Tenoric: Yes it may cause diabetes and other issues but it most likely won't be an issue. Take your tenoric as usual and have your blood sugar checked by your doctor, or you could by a blood sugar testing kit at little cost. If you results are OK you won't need to check often.

Insulin resistance: Type 2 diabetes occurs when the Insulin produced by a patient does not do all the work needed to keep blood sugar levels in the normal range. Consider Insulin a taxi that transports glucose to cells. If the taxi, s are moving slow, or the cells are not letting glucose off, the glucose waiting around for transport builds up. Obesity can create Insulin resistance not present at normal weight.

CARBS,...: Eating carbs is not the cause for developing Type 2 diabetes unless you also are out of shape, do not exercise, have a family history of Diabetes, and do not take care of your overall health.  For example Michael Phelps the Olympic swimmer will consume 12,000 calories a day when exercising but does not get Diabetes, because he stays fit and burns them off.  Even so, use portion control. Stay well!

No: Niacin is usually given to people  with high tg and low hdl.  These patients often have metabolic syndrome which includes Insulin resistance and lead to manifest dm.  However it is an association rather than causation.

Although: drug-induced diabetes has been a concern for several years, not enough information is available to influence prescribing for the majority of patients. The number one priority should be controlling blood pressure in a timely manner. The effects on cardiovascular risk are also unproven. Beta blockers have so many short and long term proven cardiovascular advantages that risk of DM is less pertinent.

will skipping meals or waiting too long to eat cause type 2 diabetes. i had my a1c checked early january and didn't have diabetes and i tend to feel very hungry in the morning, should i be worried?

: Skipping or delaying meals is not a factor in development of diabetes.
For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.

Yes: Folliculitis is an infection of the sweat glands (under your skin). Generally caused by bacteria (Proprionobacterium, sometimes Staph). Worse in people with poorly controlled diabetes.

No: In the child diabetic, the general problem is that the pancreas quits producing Insulin so your body can not utilize the available sugar. In the adult diabetic, your cells become resistant to the available insulin. The result is too much sugar in the blood. If you are a diabetic and you eat a lot of sugar, then this can make your diabetes worse, but it is not the cause of diabetes.
