No: Antacids contain hydroxide which is an anion.  Magnesium is a cation which can be coupled with the hydroxide to make an antacid. Other forms contain calcium (ie tums). Stearate is an anion but is not an antacid.

Ok: There's no problem with taking Allegra (fexofenadine) and Omeprazole together.  Neither of them contain aluminum.

Alternatives: The problem is most antacids are from the 2 chemicals but you can use Gaviscon which is a little different and so could be used without over use.  However I do not know if you can use meds or are on the H2 receptor blockers (Zantac, Pepcid, (famotidine) Axid)  These can help with the heartburn as well.  You can try these and see.  I hope it is some help but depends on your provider.

i started a round of zithro today for tonsillitis. i took the zithro with a hydration packet called lmnt, which contains 60mg of magnesium malate. im worried about potential cardiac event after seeing the do not take with magnesium antacids warning?

: It is not the cardiac side effect of zithromax but taking magnesium at the same time with zithromax may decrease the effects of zithromax. Zithromax should be taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking magnesium. Good luck.

i get bad pain in elbows, hips, knees and under my feet, especially mornings.magnesium, vitamins and antacid don't help.what can it be and what can i do?

See a doctor: It could be many causes, such as arthritis, strain muscles or tendons, or systemic disease, etc. I recommend you need to see a doctor get a complet exam.

ANTACIDS: These antacids are salts that act as buffers for neutralizing acid. The difference is which type of salt.

can i try 3-4 tums (calcium carbonate) for severe leg cramps while on prednisone?  i do take multivitamin & a magnesium, zinc, calcium supplement.  have oa. any harm?

Possibly: TUMs (calcium carbonate) may affect the absorption of other medications. Also if they have calcium in them you do not want to go above 1,500 mg of calcium a day because of the risk of kidney stones. Also you said you have OA and we typically do not use Prednisone for that condition.  Please make certain of your diagnosis
