Safe: From my reading, this is an interesting botanical that does seem to have some physiologic effects, as it seems to have benefited you, and also seems to have minimal side effects. Big doses might make your thyroid bigger but probably would not affect function.

: Do you mean you are using oral contraceptive pills? If so then most likely, these pills would not affect  contraception. Just to be safe, in the beginning you can use second method of contraception like condom. Hope it helps.

No relation: Maca will not change the ability of the Paragard IUD to prevent pregnancy.  They are completely unrelated.  Please be sure not to exceed the recommended dose of the Maca supplement.

No studies: Unfortunately at this time there are no studies which have been done to determine effects of MACA on birth control. Since MACA is a hormonal adaptogen (meaning it supports production of the body's natural hormones) it may in theory increase your own natural hormones. Whether this would interfere with birth control or not is not clear. Start slow and use a backup method of Birth Control.
