Less echogenic: Meaning that the node will generate fewer internal echoes suggesting edema or loss of normal architecture  of the node. The finding in and of itself is non specific and could suggest inflammation, infection, or tumor.

An inflammatory : or infectious (inflammatory by definition) will result in mild to moderate tenderness and variable enlargement of lymph nodes in a certain region.  On the other hand, MOST non tender, enlarged, unilateral (one sided) lymph nodes indicate a malignancy MOST of the time.  Keep in mind I said "most" not ALL.  Depending upon your BMI if one is very thin, lymph nodes of normal size may be palpable.

Not enough info....: But worth being vigilant about.  The swollen nodes could indicate an infection, and often this can be accompained by count abnormalities such as a reduced WBC count from transient marrow suppression.  If your symptoms don't resolve spontaneously over the next few days, or you develop new symptoms/signs that suggest other blood cell lineages are affected, you should see your dr.

Time: The enlarged lymph nodes are the body's response to an infection and may take up to 6 weeks to resolve.  If the problem persists beyond 6 weeks or are getting larger, contact your doctor

Lymphadenopathy: Lymph nodes can enlarge for many reasons.  Their purpose is to help fight infection and other inflammatory conditions and these may cause enlargement of the nodes. They can also suggest primary tumors of the lymphatic system. The only way to clearly differentiate is to biopsy, but most clinicians will not do this without a high degree of suspicion as to a malignant condition.

Need Checkup!: A swollen lymph node is a symptom, not a disease.
You must find out why it is swollen before you can do something about it.
How long has it been there? Is it enlarging? Are there other nodes? Do you have other symptoms- especially sweating, weight-loss, fever, itching.  If it doesn't go away, you may need a biopsy. But first you should get a good check-up.

Lymph: see your primary care as what you are describing are swollen lymph nodes, you may have strep throat or mono

reactive lymph node neck. last ultra sound 2012.blood test done 4 months ago (including fbe) no abnormalities. do i need to go for another ultrasound?

Not if stable: If the node has receded, then you need not go back for another one; if it has grown, or changed in character in any way, then you should go;
