Yes-it's complicated: Lyme is a complex illness. Lyme often causes liver inflammation (hepatitis) which can affect how the liver metabolizes medications ; herbs. Lyme also causes encephalopathy (brain dysfunction) related to infection, inflammation ; microbial toxins and an inflamed brain will likely react to medicines/herbs differently than a healthy brain.

Yes: It can produce lesions in the white matter of the brain which can bee seen on an mri.

Possibly: Often the demyelation symptoms improve with antibiotic (IV) treatment.

Hypothetical: Do you have confirmed lyme disease or is there suspicion that you could potentially have?  Do you also have a confirmed sinus abscess or instead do you have a garden variety sinus infection?  Lyme should be vigorously treated with appropriate antibiotics.  By the way, it could mimic ms symptoms on occasion, but could also look like motor neuron type of disease.  Strongly urge infectious disease dr.

Brain Trauma: There are a number of possible reasons for inflammation of the brain. I would hope that you are getting or have gotten a full work up with a real physician to know the cause of your troubles.

Hiv infection takes about three weeks to spread throughout the body.  There is no way to have symptoms  of any HIV illness in just two days after exposure.

Spectroscopy uses: Typically MR spectroscopy (MRS)  is  a problem solver used to evaluate tiny volumes of tissue for signs of malignancy or to characterize MS. Infectious lesions can be investigated with MRS  but MRS is not, in my experience, commonly used for this.  There is one article where MRS was used for dx. of a brain virus, so yes someone might try to use it for Lyme, but I am not aware of an article yet.

The brain may not be: The Brain issues may not  be related to the Lyme. It sounds like your physician is evaluating you too see what the causes  may be. I assume you are  being treated  for Lyme  with antibiotics. Ask your physician what else they are  evaluating you for

how long do antibodies remain detectable in the blood? i had a clear elisa for lyme disease after recurring lightheadedness and brain fog after a possible bite when hiking in the uk but the test was a good 10 months later -would it still be reliable?

Some antibodies: last for years and some others (such as chicken pox) last a lifetime.....It is VERY unlikely that you had a Lyme exposure if the tests are negative in 10 months!
