Reword this question: "Some kind of lung infection" means nothing. Cough? Fever? What is the DR's diagnosis? Any other meds? Ache in chest due to cough? How long ill? Effective therapy of bronchitis is time + inhalers. Antibiotic therapy is not effective for viral infections. Onion smell: This smell can come from the infection. Are you getting better or worse?   How is fever, cough fatigue?  If you feel the symptoms are worsening then you should be seen. If you are getting better then I would say the odor is a sign you are getting rid of the infection and should resolve as your pneumonia resolves.

Humidifier for Lungs: Your airways love warm, humidified air, coupled with frequent forced coughing to expel mucus. A mist humidifier or long, hot shower works well. If you can't expel the mucus, forced deep breathing, coupled with chest percussion may bring up the mucus.

More info: I doubt that you would be kept in a hospital for a month in this day and age unless you had a significant lung infection and , of course , you must have had an abnormal chest xray caused by the lung infection. Your physician, who knows all your findings, is the most qualified person to answer your questions. The fainting is a nonspecific event and may have been caused by weakness from the infection.

Probably not: True lung infections caused by candida are almost unheard of.  People with severely suppressed bone marrow function can get systemic candida infections, but most such people are hospitalized in bone marrow or other organ transplant units or similarly immunosuppressed (but rarely cancer patients receiving outpatient chemo for example).  "candida pneumonia" is almost unheard of.

No: Although candida can be found in the sputum it can be considered a contaminant except in certain situations such as immunosuppresion (cancer, HIV etc) 
if a person with tuberculosis has a candida infection the above must be ruled out particularly hiv. Otherwise the answer is no.
