Depends: It depends on what type of lung disease you have. Hydromet has Atropine in it which dries secretions, making them harder to expell.

MAY NOT be Lungs: First: if you are smoker, please quit. Chronic cough may actually be due to post-nasal drip (in up to 50% of cases).  Nasal drip could be due to sinus-allergy disease.  A thorough history, exam, chest xray may be needed initially but you may need 'allergy testing' or imaging (e.g. Ct scans) to get the exact diagnosis. Further testing may include pulmonary function (pft). Hope you are better soon!

im scared i got cancer or lung disease ( im 22) idk. the other day i started waking up with a dry cough like persistent out the blue and it happens in the morning and night. im scared its something serious. i did have lipo on my neck 2weeks ago?

: Lung cancer at your age would be at the bottom of the list of possibilities. Cough is a protective reflex the lung uses to move debris from deeper in the lung to expel it. It is the common  response to simple accumulation of mucus with colds or exposure to lung irritants. If you are loosing sleep over this get checked out.

Unlikely: Flagyl is not commonly used for pulmonary infections.

Anxiety: Most likely it related to hyperventilating secondary to anxiety.   If breathing into a paper bag for 5 to 10 minutes helps you may have extra confidence it is hyperventilating.    It is related to co2 levels not oxygen!

PNEUMONIA?: Check for signs of pneumonia like fever, colored sputum, sob, rales and  her md will send her for x- ray to rule out lung infection.
