Need more info: Densities in the lung apices can have multiple causes. Infections, including tb, scarring, emphysema, and tumors can all cause these types of densities. Your age, smoking history, history of prior infections or other underlying diseases need to be considered by your physician. There are very sensitive ways to follow these densities to see if they are stable. There is no simple "cure".

why doesn't primary tb occur in lung apices like secondary tb does?

TB: It can. The primary focus is usually the right lower lobe because that is the easiest site of entry for inhaled droplet nuclei containing afb. When the infection reaches the local nodes they suppurate, erode into an adjacent artery and the m. Tbc then spreads throughout the body to the areas with most blood flow. Either the patient then forms multiple granulomas or goes on to develop miliary tb.

: TB infection in the past may result in these changes. A TB test may be helpful. The chest x ray should be correlated to your symptoms. Watch for signs of shortness of breath and cough.

i am a thin under weight guy. i have sub-plural blebs in bilateral lung apices. i have minimal left side chest pain. will this blebs cure on its own? do i require to increase my weight to cure it. please suggest me some home remedies?

: This combination of problems is suggestive of Marfan syndrome, a developmental disorder with various manifestations of weak connective tissues. Have you perhaps been diagnosed with Marfan? TB: Mycobacterium tuberculosis is an aerophilic organism that grows best in areas in which the po2 is highest, like the apices of the lungs.  You sound like a very bright and enterprising medical student and should keep asking questions the rest of your career. TB: It is not necessarily localized in the apices, that is simply one site of reactivation.  You really need to get an infectious diseases text (recommend mandell), or a textbook of pathophysiology and read about this. Or you can go online to the national medical library and look these things up. Be a great med student.

Fibrosis: These strands of fibrous tissue represent scarring from a prior inflammatory process, probably old infection and could have been an old tuberculosis infection which you fought off. There is no sign of active lung infection. For more opinion the radiologist or a pulmonologist could be consulted.

i have minimal pain at my left side of chest from past 6 months. my hrct revealed "resolved pneumothorax with sub-plural blebs in bilateral lung apices" and my pft is suggestive of mild obstruction. please suggest me treatment , medicines and cure?
