Healing time: Everyone is different when it comes to healing after surgery. If you are overweight, have diabetes or other medical problems, or if you smoke healing will be delayed. Some people have tenderness at surgical sites for weeks. If you see pus, if the pain worsens, or if you are worried, have your doctor take a look at it! It could be a small pocket of infection.

Surgery: Although this will probably turn out to be nothing worrisome, a good rule of thumb is that anytime something unexpected happens after a surgery, you should talk to the surgeon who performed the procedure. This will often prevent complications. Don't delay. Call him or her now. Good luck.

Abnormal: Any bleeding or drainage from a laparoscopic incision is concerning. Please contact the surgeon that performed the laparoscopic procedure to schedule a follow up appointment or return to the Urgent Care or ED where the procedure was performed for evaluation.

i am one month  post op for laparoscopy still experience pain even though  incision  look healed outwardly  how long does  it take for  pain to resolve  especialy  the  cut at the  belly button ?

Pain: If no fever an otherwise you are feeling OK it may take another two weeks to get pain free.  If you have persistent pain after that you should be evaluated.

How long after?: Some scarring after any incision is normal.  The umbilical incision commonly used with laparoscopy is no exception.  The change in appearance could be anything from the scarring process to a hernia.  Have the surgeon who did the procedure look at it.  It may just need a little more time, or may need something done to correct a bigger problem.

Call ur surgeon : U need to call ur surgeon. It is not uncommon to have hematoma/seroma to leak this far out esp when pain is better and pts get more active. If there is dehiscence( separation of muscle), this could b emergency. Please call ur surgeon.

Some times happens: after surgery due to oozing of blood under the skin will disappear in 2 wks with block and blue marks                   ( ecchymosis )  Don't worry go for post OP visit
