Get seen: Especially if it feels like a little marble, it's probably an adenomatoid tumor. These are harmless but have his physician check it on his next routine physical exam, or earlier if it grows.

Lump: If the lump is in the skin of the scrotum and not within the testicle it probably is a benign cyst, wen or ingrown hair. A physician would have to examine it for accurate diagnosis and advice. A testicular lump would be a serious issue and a urologist would be best to evaluate it.

Lump on scrotum: Most likely you squeezed an infected hair follicle or a sebaceous cyst.  The cyst might have white thick paste that comes out. Be careful because squeezing them can sometimes place you at risk for a more dangerous infection of the skin called cellulitis. On the scrotum this can become very serious. Be especially careful if you are diabetic or immunocompromised. If it's a cyst it will likely recur.

If there is a new: mass - see your urologist. The urologist can tell you if this is a normal structure or a lesion that requires further exploration.

Many things.: If this is in the skin it is often a sebaceous cyst.  If it is inside the scrotum but outside and free from the testicle itself it can be an enlargement of the cables (nerves, spermatic cord, and blood vessels) that connect the testicle back to the abdomen.  (cystocele, varicocele, spermatocele).   It could also be a hernia.

Need to examine: What you described suggests a sebaceous cyst. You may wish to see your doctor at your convenience. 
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Appendix testis: The testis have an accessory add on that can sometimes be felt called the appendix testis. It is a blind knob like structure that is not always present. Your doc or a urologist can confirm or exclude this.The lack of pain is a good sign but until you have it evaluated it remains a puzzle.

See urologist: Benign growths in the scrotum often occur and often are spermatoceles. However i advise having a urologist check you to be sure. If it is needed an ultrasound of the testicles is an easy procedure which identifies the type of growth present.
