Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate): You are actually on a medication called augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) and in 2 1/2 days you should have noticed improvement. The lump may be an abcess that needs to be drained in order for it to get better, or it may be a resistant bacteria like MRSA that needs a different antibiotic. Time to return to doctor for further evaluation.

What's your question: "lump in top of [my] leg" could be due to many things. If you're describing groin area where thigh joints pelvis, this might be a hernia or swollen lymph node (gland). Hematoma or bleeding could do this. Infection, too, even abscess, if red & painful. Severely broken bone but i think you'd have a pretty good idea of that. Hives? But those are temporary & itchy. Pain? Go see your family doc.

Different options: The leg has a lot of things in it both in the skin and below it.  Sweat glands, hair follicles and skin cysts as well as lymph nodes, fatty tissue, tendons and other things.  Is the lump growing, inflamed, painful, painless, draining, recurrent or constant, moveable or fixed...?  Each of these (and many more) will provide your doc the answers as to what it is and what needs to be done.

Can be: Especially if you bruise the bone.  The "covering" of the bone (periosteum) is very sensitive and it can swell.  Also the skin overlying the shin bone can swell.  It is impossible to tell if the swelling is due to fracture or bruise, so be careful, and if it doesn't get better with rice (rest ice compression and elevation) in a few days, got to your doctor, .
