lumbar radiculopathy: dr says i don't have disk problems, i've not had an injury to my back, so what else could cause that? is it permenant?

Multiple causes: Degenerative disc disease can cause symptoms. Mri could reveal pinched nerves if pain and weakness become severe.  If steroids are used for asthma could have osteoporosis and compression fractures. Lab work could determine inflammatory causes. Emg could define type of nerve involvement. Recent birth could result in si joint  or pubic pain. Conservative  therapy with nsaids, rest or epidurals help.

is lumbar radiculopathy 4 life? pain for weeks, ease up awhile, only to return again. no disc problem nor childbirth. what cause pain come/go?

MRI: Pressure on a nerve root by a spur or disk may not disappear, but can be treated if an MRI documents their presence. A neurosurgeon could evaluate you for epidural injections or surgery for example.

So: Lumbar radiculopathy at your age, is likely associated to herniated disc. Typically these will have episodes of exacerbation and times of relief. Keeping a strong core may help. Traction also. Learn how to correctly lift objects. ( with knees instead of back) if persistent, consider MRI because sometimes surgery is needed, or localized blocks by pain management.

Second Opinion: Surgical recommendations can vary from surgeon to surgeon, based upon experience, training, and proficiency. I would suggest at least getting a second opinion from a surgeon who has done additional fellowship training in spinal disorders before surgery is ruled out. You may also want to look into a multidisciplinary pain management program.

Lumbar radiculopathy: The most common cause of a lumbar radiculopathy is a herniated disc. This can be sometimes treat with just physical therapy and sometimes a surgery might be required to remove the herniated disc.

Probably not: That's just impossible to say.  It depends heavily on what's causing the pinched nerve.  Is it just a bulged/herniated disc?  Is there some joint arthritis with spurs pinching the nerve?  What about a synovial cyst?  How big is the herniation if there is one?  

Epidural steroid injections can help tremendously for acute (new) radiculopathy, but will likely eventually need to be repeated.

It depends: This is very difficult to answer as it depends on what the cause of your radiculopathies are.  They do tend to resolve with time without significant intervention but there are some cases where permanent damage/disability can occur - this tends to be the more rare outcome.  Your best bet is to review this with a spine surgeon, for a more detailed review.
