after my ivf transfer (1 pgs normal embryo) i had an early scan at 5w4d, but gestational sac was measuring only 5.4mm with no yolk sac or fetal pole. im going back one week later when i will be 6w5d, so what should i expect to see? will i miscarry?

Miscarriage: if at your next ultrasound there is still not evidence of a fetus, the gestational sac may also have started reabsorbing. The "miscarriage" may be just a slightly heavier period.

6 days back i have done frozen embryo transfer. in last 3 days have used heating pad on lower back twice for 10-15min. have had 1 miscarriage in past. i saw on internet heating pads are not supposed to be used after fet. now im worried. please help.

Lower back: as you describe is likely ok. However, discussion with your fertility doctor is a good idea, as well.

Ans: There is always a possibility of a mutation. This cannot be predicted. However just because on the outside you are normal does not mean you do not carry a recessive gene. You and your partner can have gene mapping. But again remember thecwayvthe chromosomes line up is chance. But if you have abnormal genes you can put a percentage on the chance of that gene showing up. Again all a toss of the coin

YES: Not uncommon; however, if associated with heavy clotting or cramping, you must be seen, examined, evaluated and treated.

Better not: Lifting that weight probably will not have any impact - but it might make more sense to avoid it.

Accepted Answer

Low: Actually a fetal pole measuring 6 weeks 2 days when you are 6 weeks 5 days pregnant is fine.  Babies come in all sizes -plus or minus 5 days measurement (ahead or behind)  is fine.  Also not everyone has 28 day cycles and if you did not ovulate on day 14 of your cycle, dates may be measuring a little off.  Were  you told this was abnormal, because I do not think it is, unless i missing facts.

Completed : Difficult to tell without an ultrasound evaluation. If you have light bleeding now you may have passed the products of conception. Remember to follow up with your provider as scheduled.

Maybe neither: Early research on fetal loss has shown as many as 1/3 will have a chromosomal defect. If the material was not studied it is hard to guess what happened. Sometimes either parent will carry a "balanced" chromosome defect that results in frequent fetal loss. After 3 many medical geneticists recommend the women get tested. You may want to contact one (children's hospitals) &amp; discuss your concerns.

See below: You did have an embryo (conceptus of more than 2 weeks of age).  Consult an obstetrician to sort out cause(s).

Yes: You can miscarry at any age from your 1st egg release until they stop coming. Some speculate that 1 in 4 conceptions shed without implanting to start with. A lesser number implant but miscarry. I find childbirth fascinating when you consider all that must go right for it to occur at all.
