Need to examine: Is this a new patch or has it been there since birth? If it is of recent origin it is more important to see a doctor for an evaluation. If it is a birth mark, you may wish to leave it alone. Unless it is large and protruding, you may  consult a lady friend of yours for make-up to cover the patch.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Don't get Cold Sores: Your lip and tissue changes color when the healing process begins.  Look at a cut or scrape on your skin.  Much more pink when the healing process begins.  There is a cascade of healing processes going on during the first 48 hours.  The key is knowing when a cold sore is about to begin, prodermal stage.  Get with your dentist or doctor to prescribe an anti-viral in this time period.

Just avoid it: You may want to do without it or use a different brand, impossible to know the full ingredients of that preparation. Skin discoloration usually takes time to come back to normal tone, need to be away from irritants to give time for healing, you want to have a second opinion if you wish, it's your right, good luck

Lip patches: Lips heal themselves very quickly.  Keep the area clean with soap and water and allow to dry, or apply petroleum jelly and things should resolve over a few days to a week.

Have a check up: Just to be sure he is fine. Is he a smoker? If the patch is slow growing or benign, it is still a good idea to see an oral surgeon for diagnosis.

Depigmentation: Hi,
Skin changes are somewhat difficult to interpret without an image but I am assuming that the pink patches are on the outside of your lip (and not your gums?) By your short description, you may be seeing depigmentation, which has numerous causes. The lip seems to be an unusual area and I think it is worthwhile to be seen by a dermatologist.
